Could You Be Slowed By Chains?

One of my favorite thought and passion these last two months (and still in me) is breaking away from entangling chains. 'Break Every Chain' by Tasha Cobbs has been my best song; I even made it my ringtone to make sure it sinks deed into my nerves.

May be you're good, but for me I realized I've a number of chains I must contend with. Some are huge indeed, but thank God He has given me a formula.

Now listen: Do you put more
efforts yet harvest so little? Do you work hard towards your freedom and things burst against you when almost there? Do you lack destiny connectors? Is suffering the order of your life? Is your culture and tradition limiting you? Are you unable to overcome a certain sickening behavior? The greater possibility is you're in chains.

I'd love to talk of two types of chains that you must watch as a youth: Spiritual and non-spiritual.

Spiritual Chains
It's tormenting and saddening knowing how people are enslaved with spiritual chains yet unaware of their captivity.

The spiritual world is more real than physical one. But it requires spiritual sight and understanding to know what's taking place. This is why when still in sin one is totally unaware of the chains over them.

This is what Paul says in 2Co 10:4
'For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds"

The weapons ain't carnal, what are they? No doubt, Spiritual.

Spiritual chains prevent you from attaining the spiritual knowledge that shall lead you to your spiritual freedom. For the time you've known Jesus, you should be far. Aha! Most are meant to be cracking bones, but still feeding on milk!

Is your prayer life growing? How about studying the Word? What is your record in contributing towards the advancement of the gospel?

If you're straining in these areas, then it's high time you asked God for the grace to overcome. Then fight hard for your freedom!

After getting born again, you may realize that you'll still fight to overcome the sins you used to do. you may still feel like wanting to smoke, watching that pornography, going back to a pub, indulging into immorality etc. That's the body. It's going to stay for a while and for sure it'll demand for its desires. All you need to overcome is the knowledge and determination backed by the divine power of the Holy Spirit.

Non-Spiritual Chains
The truth is, everything is influenced by the spiritual world. But there chains that directly affect our social and physical lives. Things like poverty and unproductivity, punishing traditions and fears.

You must deny living under the curse of your fore-fathers. Yes, you must say no to the chains connecting you to the fears and practices of your culture that are not in-line with the truth.

Look here, if you're not aware, you may operate on a certain level of income for the rest of your life. People may manipulate you and waste your precious life. Learn to say no!

You may miss out on your right life partner because you fear rejection form your people if you married from a certain background or community. May be no one from your community or village has married from such a background. Break off!

Most Important Part: How?
Apart from Salvation of our souls, there's another thing Jesus did on the cross: He blotted out ALL the ordinances that were written against us! I love this portion of scripture:

...having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Colossians 2:13,14

Jesus took all this curses and chains and nailed them at the cross. But He did not stop there! He went ahead to spoil and triumph over these powers and principalities.

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:15

But you need to know that it's only the truth that you know that shall set you free. And it's not the head knowledge but intimate knowledge. What you've lived in. So one MUST  persuaded and accept fully what Jesus did on the cross.

The song I mentioned earlier by Tasha Cobbs gives another perspective in answering this question: The name of Jesus.

I'm persuaded beyond doubt that there is enough power in this name to bring down every bondage. Aha! To break every chain.

This is the name by which Lazarus rose again. The name by which wonders and miracle take place. The name by which we're saved. If the very name snatched us from eternal destruction, what about these chains? It's possible!

Brethren, if we could only believe! There's power in the name of Jesus to break every chain! The Bible says, "...if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." It's as clear and as simple as that! Believe it.

Your Part
Work it out! Claim it! Live it! The new life. Say no to the past. Yes it may want to cling to you but shake it off, be close to the master, even Jesus Christ, to learn how to go through it. It's a spiritual battle, and like any fight, it wanna not be easy. But the prize is worth it. So fight!!
